Sail Melbourne 2017 might be over but some of the memories and friendships made at this year’s regatta will last forever.

Victorian brothers Kevin and Ross Wilson have been recognised with the Kevin Wood Award for their dedication and commitment to Sail Melbourne.

Another day of strong winds for the final day of Sail Melbourne meant an early finish to the event with the last day of Invited class racing called off.

Strong winds and a difficult sea state forced the Sail Melbourne International Race Committee to call off racing on the penultimate event day of Sail Melbourne International, which was the final day of Olympic class racing. For the Olympic classes the cancellation of racing on their final day meant that medal winners were decide.

After two days of braving the Melbourne heat, the third day of Sail Melbourne International (Friday, 1 December 2017) posed a whole new range of challenges to sailors with temperatures dropping and the first part of the much talked about Victorian weather front moving in. It was a busy day for sailors and race committee alike.

Australia’s up and coming sailing talent will join the action at Sail Melbourne International from today, Friday, 1 Dec 2017 with the Invited Classes scheduled to race from 1 - 3 December 2017. Youth sailing classes make up the majority of the Invited classes and include the Australian Sailing Youth Team.

It was another day of extremes at Sail Melbourne International for the second day of Olympic class racing. More high temperatures and a hot breeze blowing off the land did not allow the sailors any cool off out on Port Phillip.

Racing has kicked-off at Sail Melbourne International 2017 with the Olympic classes heading out on Port Phillip on what was a scorcher of a day one. Around 35 degrees and a dying morning breeze made for a long wait onshore before the sea breeze filled back in and racing got underway.
